Brain injury rehabilitation has been referred to as “an extremely stressful and demanding endeavor”. In this context, the “Conscious Therapist” demonstrates mindfulness through moment-by-moment awareness of their thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and is able to be present for their patients and co-workers despite growing challenges. Numerous factors inherent to working with brain injury, as well as external factors influencing the delivery of services, place great demand on the individual therapist. These unique challenges to mindfulness for the neurorehab professional require a unique approach to increase resilience, therapist satisfaction and ultimately therapist impact on the lives of those they serve. This interactive workshop is meant to lay the foundation for significant personal and professional growth.
Topics for the two days include:
Leading and treating with your brain in mind- the neuroscience behind it all
Review of mindfulness literature-Metacognition applied to oneself
